contract_edit Bat Incidental Take

This page is intended for reporting the incidental take of endangered little brown bats due to potential human rabies exposure.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that in all "instances" of potential human exposure involving bats, the bat in question should be safely collected if possible, and submitted for rabies diagnosis.

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources has initiated a broad incidental take permit allowing the take/killing of four (4) little brown bats in response to a rabies exposure. Please see this to identify a little brown bat.

As a part of this policy it is required that when a little brown bat is killed it is reported to the state via this website.
