DescriptionBurke Mountain Academy, in partnership with Bear Den Operations Company, operator of Burke Mountain Resort, seeks approval for the seasonal operation of two snow storage areas (Dipper Flats & Lower Dipper) within the existing developed ski terrain of Burke Mountain, subject to Land Use Permit 7C0206. Each storage area will consist of a consolidated pile of primarily manmade snow generated during winter snowmaking operations and preserved during non-winter months using a Snow Secure (or similar) insulated tarp system. Each pile may be up to approximately 20 feet in height and 300 feet in length and will remain within existing ski trail corridors without additional clearing or expansion of developed terrain. In the short-term operational plan, only one pile is anticipated to be used at a time; however, approval for two locations is requested to allow operational flexibility, and multiple piles may operate simultaneously in future seasons depending on programmatic and snowmaking needs.
