DescriptionThe Federal Street Multimodal Connector Project (the Project) proposes to reconstruct the Federal Street Corridor to improve its use by automobiles, trucks, pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transit. The proposed Phase I interim project improvements authorized under LUP# 6F0657 were completed in 2018. The Project consists of a new roadway section and redevelopment of existing roads within St. Albans in order to redirect through traffic from Main Street. The Project will create a new connection at South Main Street, extending St. Albans State Highway to the intersection of Nason Street and Lemnah Drive intersection. Project work includes grading, curbing, sidewalk, subbase, and pavement installation on new horizontal and vertical alignments. It also includes rehabilitation, overlay and widening of existing streets, new drainage infrastructure, new traffic signals, lighting, rail crossings, signs, striping, landscaping, and a new box culvert carrying Lemnah Drive over Stevens Brook.
