7.5 Channel Adjustment Processes Narrative
This segment is heavily encroached and straightened along Rt-11. The channel is pinned against the road embankment and has limited opportunity to redevelop meanders as the opposite bank is steep with intermittent armoring. As the incision ratio indicates this segment is locked in stage II due to the encroachment and armoring throughout causing a departure from B to F-type. There is a short portion where the river is able to meander, which was filled with deposition during T.S. Irene and now is adjusting planform. This stretch however was not long enough to warrant segmentation as the majority of the segment is still pinned against the road and incising.
