7.5 Channel Adjustment Processes Narrative
Trout Brook is encroached by Weston-Andover Rd, as well as straightened and bermed in many locations. Road encroachment and a near continuous natural valley wall have limited widening and planform adjustment, causing the channel to incise. The storm in July of 2014 caused significant scouring of the channel bottom, as well as deposition of boulders in areas with debris jams or localized slope increases. There is a reduction in fine sediment throughout, which supports the channel adjustment process as incision and a channel evolution stage II designation.
