7.5 Channel Adjustment Processes Narrative
This reach has been historically straightened causing the dominant channel adjustment process to be incision, prior to the July 2014 flood. Deposition following the flood in 2014 filled in the channel and restored floodplain access in several areas. The reach is C-type by reference but was likely departed to F-type prior to the flood. The channel is predominantly B-type now with some areas of C-type. Widening is limited through the reach due to densely rooted banks and bouldery soils. We did not observe evidence of active incision; aggradation with some planform adjustment is the dominant channel adjustment process. The channel will continue to aggrade due to increased sediment supply and should improve floodplain access, especially if roughness increases through LWD recruitment.
