Potash brook is frequently encroached by Potash Brook Rd causing a change in valley confinement from narrow to semi-confined. We observed evidence of recent incision and widening following a large storm event in July 2014. The road was severely damaged in several locations and the channel appears to have incised throughout the reach. LWD deposits throughout the reach are storing large volumes of fine sediment, however floodplain access remains very limited. The ongoing incision has caused the channel to depart from B to F type and we assessed the reach as stage II.
