7.5 Channel Adjustment Processes Narrative
This reach is extremely active since the 2014 July flooding. During this storm the reach widened and filled with material. The banks along this reach are continuously scoured and have many areas of active erosion. These indicate the recent widening of the reach. In the channel there are large bars throughout, including many mid-channel and diagonal bars. There are many large scour pools beneath steep riffles as the channel attempts to regain normality in its riffle-pool sequence. This deposition and erosion indicate that the reach is adjusting planform and is in Stage IV. The reach has a low ER value due in part to the widened bankfull channel. Incision is not an active process and floodplain accessibility is moderate throughout the reach.
