Comments:
Bridge at lower end of reach is the first observance of Japanese Knotweed in the stream system during the Phase 2 assessment. Some straightening and dredging by lower Cold River Road bridge was observed. This reach is significantly smaller than downstream reaches due to the branching of the Cold River. Some community members expressed that they felt the mainstem of the Cold River followed up the Gould Brook and Sargent Brook channel. The channel appears to have some historic incision, however a new juvenile bankfull bench existed in many locations. Due to the narrow valley width measured in the field and the slope this reach was determined to be a C3 plane bed channel by reference.
