Comments:
Segment break at upstream end is where trib enters on RB. Confinement is more open than both upstream and downstream segments (phase 2 channel width was used to estimate phase 2 confinement type because of uncertainty associated with reference channel width) and stream is riffle pool in this segment. Mansfield parking area runs along right side of stream and has caused a change in channel confinement. The construction of the parking lot resluted in a human caused change in confinement. Stream may have been moved to it's current location when the parking area was built and changed the lateral constraints of the channel.
Stream has good floodplain access for most of the segment on at least 1 bank. Sediment retention ponds discharge to West Branch in this segment in at least 2 locations, adds a lot of suspended sediment during storm events. We noticed the stream silt up immediately following a heavy downpour while we were in conducting the assessment in segment A (downstream of sediment ponds). We did not see the same situation while assessing segment C (upstream of sediment ponds) during a similar rain shower.
