Bankfull width is approximately two times the reference channel width from the VT hydraulic geometry curves. The channel dimensions are most likely due to precipitation patterns. Mount Mansfield annual precipitation averages over 78 inches. Precipitation increases with elevation at about 1 inch oer 1,000 feet of elevation. Mount Mounsfield receives more precipitation than most areas of the state. An orthographic effect often occurs on Mount Mansfield. Phase 2 channel width was used to determine phase 2 confinement type because of the uncertainty associated with reference channel width. Segment A is less entrenched than the upper segment "B".
