8/11/06 (see also comments under T2.01A) Returned to Grice Brook after about a week to conduct cross sectios on upstream segment. System here is slightly entrenched, and has access to a wide floodplain. A number of debris jams are causing the river to undergo planform adjustments. This segment is much more sinuous than is indeicated by stream layer in GIS. Upper portion of segment shows reduction in sediment size. Anecdotal evidence suggests floods cross the backs of properties and are creating new scour pools. About six years ago a culvert at the end of Thorpe Ave. was washed away. Planform adjustments do not threaten structures thought they may threaten properties (i.e. lawns).
