Comments:
Lewis Creek Rd (gravel) encroaches within the valley and is elevated above the floodplain near the upstream end of the segment. For a majority of the segment length, the road is only slightly elevated above the LB terrace. Uncertain to what degree the LB terrace surface has been modified / graded for maintainence of the road over past decades. Road was not entered as a HEF since the channel is already historically incised below the LB terrace (IRref = 2.7). Bedrock probably contributes to the linear planform and Semi-confined status of the segment. Channel-spanning bedrock is present in upstream Segment B and in downstream reach M08 near the reach break with M09. It is also possible that straightening occurred historically along Lewis Creek Road. Residential development is present along the LB corridor on the far side of Lewis Creek Rd. Presence of the Scott Pond Dam in segment B, and possible "hungry water" conditions, may have contributed to historic incision of the channel in Segment A. Dam heights have varied over the years; present dam height (and degree of upstream impoundment) is apparently somewhat less than historic (see Ph2 report).
