Comments:
Updated in 2008 to segment the reach (separately delineate subreach of bedrock gorge - Segm B). Relies on 2002 Phase 2 field observations, and 2008 cross section. Historic diversion noted on Beers Atlas (1871); water diverted from upstream impoundment (Segm B) across Rt 125 to saw mill on RB just d/s of Rt 125 crossing. Current residential encroachment on terrace along LB corridor. VT Rt 125 encroaches on LB corridor at base of left VW, reducing valley width somewhat but not substantially enough to change valley confinment. If consider high RB terrace (glacio-fluvial) the RB valley wall, valley confinement would be Narrowly-confined (B reference stream type). If, however, use more distant RB valley wall, valley confinement would be Broad (Cb reference stream type). Since RTER is comprised of highly-erodible materials, erred on side of caution (with respect to assignment of stream type departure, sensitivity, FEH corridor dimension, and hazard index) to classify the segment's reference stream type as Cb. VT 125 crossing is a double box culvert with concrete "pier" or divider, and concrete apron. Scour (1 ft) evident at downstream end (and under) the concrete base of the box culvert.
