Comments:
Valley widths vary between 1.5 to 5 times channel width, predominantly between 2 and 4 times width. McCoy Rd (u/s end of the reach) & Wells Brook Rd (majority of the reach) pass within the Phase 2 corridor, but are typically elevated well above the floodprone width of the channel on the valley wall; therefore do not represent a significant encroachment that results in a change in reference valley width. One occurrence channel-spanning bedrock in the u/s half of reach (in horse pasture). Bedrock also observed to provide lateral channel constraint in discrete locations. 3 stormwater inputs observed: from LB road or dw runoff, and LB field ditch. Nine bridges and instream culvert crossings in the reach; DMS has room for eight. Ninth is Wells Brook Road bridge at d/s end of reach - bankfull and FPW constrictor. B&C assessments completed at 8 of the 9 crossing structures - excluding a small timber private footbridge. Direct livestock acces in u/s horse pasture. Three fords - residential and recreational. Straightening possible along LB hay field in d/s end and at select bridge & culvert crossings. Constructed cobble/boulder grade control structure d/s of residential bridge (wp164). 3 beaver dams recently breached; sedimentation and erosion patterns suggest impoundment up to bridge at wp144.
