Comments:
Human-caused change in valley width by East Wells Road - changed confinement from reference Broad to altered Semi-confined. Reference stream type (C) and unconfined status of channel remains unchanged. In addition to one occurrence of low-profile channel-spanning bedrock, bedrock provides lateral grade controls along LB in d/s 1/3 of reach. Downstream coarsening of the bed material (from cobble to gravel dominated) and transition from plane-bed dominated form with the occasional riffle/pool feature, to step/pool dominated with the occasional section of plane-bed. Three RB stormwater inputs were observed - culverts directed under East Wells Rd. One instream culvert (Tunket Rd) and four private footbridges. All but one (a footbridge) are bankfull constrictors. One recreational ford mid-segment. Post flood gravel extraction at point bar reported by riparian landowner. Boulder "dam" present downstream of Tunket Road culvert crossing w/ large d/s scour pool (containing trout). See Phase 2 report.
