Comments Location of features indexed is approximate only; 1995 surface water coverage which forms the basis for the FIT does not display the current planform. Headcut is a nick point comprised of erosion-resistent clay layer. Tribs to Saxe Brook have significant dredging, straightening. E5-plane bed stream type is characteristic of the reach as a whole. However, near the downstream end between hay and corn fields, recent channelization, dredging, berming has resulted in a loss of floodplain connection, and a localized section of F5-PB (stream type departure). In other areas of less recent straightening, cohesive bed and banks may have moderated potential incision and loss of floodplain connection.DifferentStep5.aspx Comments

AdjustmentNarrativeHistoric straightening has lead to ongoing incision through most of the segment. Very low channel slope reduces stream power, resulting in minimal opportunity for widening or planform adjustment. Recent STR, dredging, berming near DS end has led to partial loss of FP connection (IR = 1.4 to 2.0). Lesser degree of incision in US half where straightening is more historic . Incis/Widening probably moderated by cohesive silt/clay bed/banksDifferentStep7.aspx7.5Channel Adjustment Processes Narrative
