Comments | | Location of features indexed is approximate only; 1995 surface water coverage which forms the basis for the FIT does not display the current planform. Headcut is a nick point comprised of erosion-resistent clay layer. Tribs to Saxe Brook have significant dredging, straightening. E5-plane bed stream type is characteristic of the reach as a whole. However, near the downstream end between hay and corn fields, recent channelization, dredging, berming has resulted in a loss of floodplain connection, and a localized section of F5-PB (stream type departure). In other areas of less recent straightening, cohesive bed and banks may have moderated potential incision and loss of floodplain connection. | Different |

AdjustmentNarrative | Historic straightening has lead to ongoing incision through most of the segment. Very low channel slope reduces stream power, resulting in minimal opportunity for widening or planform adjustment. | Recent STR, dredging, berming near DS end has led to partial loss of FP connection (IR = 1.4 to 2.0). Lesser degree of incision in US half where straightening is more historic . Incis/Widening probably moderated by cohesive silt/clay bed/banks | Different |
