the health of Vermont Lakes: Results of the 2007 National Lake
Assessment
Assessments based on habitat indexes developed by EPA’s National Lake Assessment program.
Comparison of the average habitat characteristics of sites around SUNSET (BENSON) with the average habitat characteritics at undeveloped and developed sites at other lakes in the state.
Disturbance components that make up the Lakeshore Disturbance score. ‘1.0’ indicates disturbance occurs in the immediate shoreline plot. ‘0.5’ indicates the disturbance occurs in an area proximal to, but not within, the immediate shoreline plot.

Comments: Went to all the inlets right after thunderstorm on 8/7 and saw no evidenc of plumes or inlet water. Could not find inlet 1 that drains from Perch Pond. Inlet 2 drains from Doughty Pond. Inlet 3 drains from Mud Pond. Sampled Inlets 2 and 3 at road crossings and recorded the coordinates for that. Coordinates for where made observations of delta, etc are as follows: Inlet 2 mouth 43.75639, 73.27773, Inlet 3 mouth 43.76150, 73.26629

Comments | The wier lip is roughly 2ocm up from the sandy bottom. Jamie, the former lay monitor, said the dam height raised the water level 8”. The president of the association said 2” when redid outlet weir. |
Comments: Directly following the thunderstorm and heavy rain yesterday found 3 areas with sediment visibly running off into lake. 1) Public access was the worst, 2) private access near site G was 3rd worst, 3) where rds meet at site F (2nd worst), 4) site I, point on F&W (4th worst and easiest to remediate, possible VYCC project with Amy’s guidance). Photos and video taken of runoff.
