Assessments

Assessments based on habitat indexes developed by EPA’s National Lake Assessment program.

Habitat Comparisons

Comparison of the average habitat characteristics of sites around NINEVAH with the average habitat characteritics at undeveloped and developed sites at other lakes in the state.

Disturbances

Disturbance components that make up the Lakeshore Disturbance score. ‘1.0’ indicates disturbance occurs in the immediate shoreline plot. ‘0.5’ indicates the disturbance occurs in an area proximal to, but not within, the immediate shoreline plot.

Comments: Met warden on lake. Wilderness community inc. Allows use of their beach, but no dogs, own island but don’t allow access on it. Could not find inlet 2 from lake, found it from road. Hence no observations of wher it comes into lake. GIS is slightly off, inlet closer to F&W access.

Protection Classification

NINEVAH Lake Protection Classification

Comments: Couple of spots with bouldered shore, but not extensive. Peaks visible but see ski area trails. Found chinese mystery snail at where inlet #2 is shown on GIS to come into lake. 2 samples taken. Did not see snail at any of the 10 PHAB sites, outlet and inlet #1. Found 6-7 snails present. Looks like a bloom of algae in the water column going on at sites A, B, C, D. But when sampling site B (windward end, don’t see greater concentration of it like would expect with bluegreen). Well distributed in water column. Lake sures have expressed concern over observations they have made of increased algae in lake. Part of prioritizing this lake for this survey was due to concerns Susan Warren was hearing.
