Bird Collection Reporting Form

This form is for reporting wild bird collection is for use by citizens of the:
  • Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk-Abenaki Nation
  • Elnu Abenaki Band
  • Koasek Abenaki Band
  • Missisquoi St. Francis-Sokoki Band of the Abenaki Nation

Members of these four Abenaki bands have both federal and state authorization to collect dead (salvaged) birds, bird parts and feathers for cultural and ceremonial purposes. If you are a member of one of these bands and don’t already have a copy of the Vermont authorization be sure to note this below in question 15 and one will be sent to you.

Reporting Instructions

  1. Collection from the wild of any of the following birds (whole, parts, or feathers) must be reported within 72-hours of the collection:
    • Any Threatened or Endangered bird species
    • Any species of hawk, falcon, owl, eagle or other raptor
    You do not need to report birds and parts provided by the Agency of Natural Resources or acquired through trade/exchange among other Native Americans, or through the national Bald Eagle Repository
  2. Fields with * are required.
  3. Photos are a big help to us. You can attach photos of the bird(s) you collected below, or you can submit them via email to: ANR.EndangeredPermit@vermont.gov, or by U.S. Mail to:

  4. Be sure to click ‘submit’ at the bottom of this form to submit your report.
