Pump Malfunction

We have left #2 effluent pump off and I am staying the night to monitor the effluent running to see if leaving #2 pump off will keep the fuse from blowing. If it doesn't blow again we will have the electrician return and troubleshoot and possibly rewire effluent #2 parco to try and eliminate the issue that it must be having.

At 4:43pm on December 19, 2025 I received an effluent or influent high alarm from the plant. I immediately called my assistant chief operator to get him on his way in and I also started to drive up to the plant. My assistant arrived at around 5:00pm and tried replacing the fuse on the effluent pumps after determining that they wouldn't run. This fuse controls the parco valves which allow the effluent pumps to run. This is also what happened to us on November 23/24 2025. This time when the operator arrived he replaced the fuse and he tried starting the pumps the fuse blew within seconds. He tried another fuse and a different pump but again the fuse blew almost instantly. I called our electrician and had him start heading to us. He arrived at 7:30pm and put a new fuse in after doing some electrical checks. We started an effluent pump and it ran ok. We tried a different pump and it to ran ok and didn't blow the fuse. I went home to gather a few things because I had decided to stay the night to monitor the pumps and left one of the operators on site and on my way back #2 effluent pump started and blew the fuse again. He replaced the fuse and left #2 pump off and tried #3 effluent and it ran ok and didn't blow the fuse. We are narrowing it down to an issue with #2 effluent. This was fully treated and chlorinated and dechlorinated effluent that we discharged to the Roaring Brook that runs next to our plant. We used a 2" submersible pump and a 3" gas pump with a 2" hose on it to pump down the effluent well and we discharged these two pumps to the catch basin in our driveway that then runs to the Roaring Brook within 50' of the basin.
