The operators did a routine check of Pump Station No. 2, discovered the overflow, and manually pumped the station down to stop the overflow. They are troubleshooting the cause of the communication failure and will continue to manually pump down the 3 pump stations until the problem is resolved.

There was a problem with the electronic communication between the three pump stations on Route 4 that operate in series. Pump Station No. 2 was not pumping but it failed to give an alarm and did not shut off Pump Station No. 1. Pump Station No. 1 continued pumping to Pump Station No. 2, which exceeded the storage capacity of the station and resulted in an overflow from the pump station hatch.
