Description Of Incident: On Monday, April 15th 2019 an excavation company contracted by the City of Montpelier was working on replacing a water line on Barre Street. During excavation a sewer line was exposed. Excavation near the sewer line caused a joint on the sewer pipe to fail. Before the pipe could be replaced less then a 100 gallons of untreated sewage flowed to a swale that runs directly into the Winooski River. The failed sewage joint was repaired immediately.
