The power wire feeding the UV system overheated and burned inside the UV control panel. The wire was temporarily repaired. From the time the operator was notified until the time the flow was terminated approximately 10,000 - 15,000 gallons of treated, non-disinfected effluent was discharged to McCabe's Brook.
The total volume discharged that was non-disinfected effluent may be lower due to hydraulic throughput of disinfected plant water and UV channel volume. Plant water and UV channel volume is approximately 3,300 gallons.
