We will increase the Total Residual Chlorine during the wasting periods. We will also take measures to reduce the spike in flow by monitoring the flow while recovering after pumping waste sludge is complete. Bringing the flow back to normal conditions as slowly as possible.

as a permit requirement we performed our monthly 8 hour composite samples on Tuesday 7/4/2023. Because this was a holiday the samples were held and composited on Wednesday 7/5/2023 to be taken to the lab. We take our required monthly e-coli sample just before leaving for lab to ensure shortest hold time possible. Wednesdays are normal weekly wasting days. (this wasting procedure is the pumping off of solids collected in bottom of primary clarifier to a sludge holding tank for later removal by permitted septage hauler). this wasting process creates a drop and then corresponding spike in flow when discharge returns, usually about 2000 gallons are wasted. The e-coli sample was taken during this spike in flow.
