Once river levels dropped far enough to safely access the Bethel Mills Pump Station we were able to pump, clean and inspect for damage. No damage was sustained and we were able to get the Pump Stations back online

Due to river flooding from excessive rain fall on July 10th, at approximately 12:15 pm we were forced to shut down our Bethel Mills Pump Station. In doing so, we also had to shut down our Pleasant Street and St Hyacinth Pump Stations as well. These pump to Bethel Mills. While St Hyacinth did reach alarm stage, there was still adequate storage there before risk of having to emergency pump it. Pleasant Street station was pumped through out the remainder of the day until 11 pm and we gained adequate storage for the remainder of the night. The morning of the 11th, Pleasant Street was pumped once more to regain storage volume. Once river levels dropped and we could safely access Bethel Mills station, we pumped, cleaned and inspected the station. The station luckily received no damage and was able to be brought back online at approximately 11:30 am. Then Pleasant Street and St Hyacinth were turned back on as well. We did receive very high flows at the treatment plant but we were able to divert some flow into an empty clarifier that was down for some repairs as well as our 2nd oxidation ditch that is currently not used, as well as dosing with polymer. By doing this we minimized the risk of hydraulic overload in our clarifier. While clarifier effluent did turn slightly turbid for a short time, we didn't loose any solids. During these high flow peaks we also ran effluent through both of our UV Units to continue to disinfect as best as we could. The clarifier we diverted flow to is currently being pumped back down and is slowly fed into our headworks at the Treatment Facility to run it's course for treatment.
