High flows caused by consistent rainfall that reached a maximum rate of 0.57 inches per hour, a total accumulation of 0.59 inches, and combined with rapid snow melt caused by unusually warm temperatures and high winds on 12/23/2023 resulted in the discharge of a combination of sewage and stormwater from CSO # 5 - West Street Siphon. This is an authorized discharge intended to protect the sewer system, to prevent overflows from other parts of the sewer system, and to prevent backups into homes and other buildings.
