As reported by Aaron Martin, vacuum trucks removed sewage and transferred the waste to the Alder Brook pump station for conveyance to the wastewater facility. The line was jetted (flushed) and evaluated with closed circuit pipeline television. The line was completely cleared and then revisited the following day to ensure that sewage was flowing uninterrupted. There was also a site visit by the ANR Environmental Enforcement officer Sean McVeigh and it was discussed that there was no indication of discharge to the waters of the state. The report was filed regardless.

Essex Staff suspected damage to gravity sewer pipe by nearby construction project. Field investigation determined that Type 1 stone found its way into a manhole, blocking the invert and resulting in the structure flooding. Response by the Town of Essex was immediate.
