The blower was started upon arrival at the plant Tuesday morning. Operators followed the biological process and did extra testing to verify appropriate treatment. The facility is currently improving the disinfection system which will also help prevent a likelihood of this happening again.

There was a disinfection failure at the Riverside wastewater facility. Disinfection failure was due to an aeration tank blower failure. This failure led to less than adequately treated discharge. Staff corrected the problem as soon as it was discovered, Testing at 12:30 PM Tuesday was still slight above compliance levels and were expected to recover shortly thereafter. A sample was taken Wednesday morning to verify the facility was back in compliance. The results are still pending at time of this posting.
