When notice the digester overflowing and operator stop all incoming flow to the digestor. An operator started the belt filter press to lower the level in the digester. The Barre city staff posted signs where there is river access.

Water hose for facilitating pump flow got left in the on position. Digester level raised and overflowed. Approximately 100 gallons of digester supernatant flowed into a storm drain. The cause of the overflow was human error.
