The standby chemical feed pump for sodium bisulfite was put on-line and the effluent TRC measured at 12 Noon was 0 mg/L, which was in compliance. Then a mechanical failure of the standby chemical feed pump occurred. Maintenance was performed on the standby chemical feed pump and it was returned to service about 2:45 PM. An effluent TRC of 0 mg/L was measured at 3 PM, which was back in compliance. The periods of failure of the dechlorination system were intermittent and estimated at 4.5 hours, so the volume is also an estimate. There is no USGS stream gauge on the Stevens Branch to provide stream flow data, so the instream concentration of TRC cannot be calculated.

An effluent Total Residual Chlorine (TRC) of 0.43 mg/L was measured at about 8:30 AM, which exceeded the permit limit of 0.1 mg/L. This was due to a mechanical failure of the chemical feed pump for sodium bisulfite, the dechlorination chemical.
