The valve from the primary clarifier going back to the mill was closed when the discharge was discovered. An excavation company was contracted and the pipe was repaired by 5:00 PM 7/28/2025. Flow restored at 10:00 AM 7/29/2025.

Description Of Incident:
|
Recovered paper fiber (<5%) and process water are returned to the paper mill from the primary clarifier via a 6" underground pipe. This pipe cracked on 7/26/25 at 2:43 am. Once the unpermitted discharge was discovered, the valve from the primary clarifier was closed and flow to the Missisquoi River stopped at 4:10 am.
