Description Of Incident:
|
Last year the 16" forcemain from the Hinesburg Road pumpstation failed and a temporary repair was performed. Aldrich and Elliott as contracted to engineer a permanent solution and the project was put out to bid for work to commence in April or May 2025. The 14" line that has been out of service since 2002 was operated last month for several days with no problems as it will be used for bypass pumping while the 16" is properly repaired. On Monday we started the bypass pumping to test the line and on Tuesday we observed water coming out of the road near 357 Hinesburg Road. We switched lines back and the water stopped. On Wednesday morning we noticed the 14" line draining back had surfaced along the side of the road and discovered that it was siphoning from the 16" gravity manhole back into the 14" line and the low flow was going to a stormdrain.
