Description Of Incident:
|
Wastewater operators were notified by Bennington Police at 0545 of an overflowing manhole at 88 Monument Avenue by person walking their dog. Operators attempted to reach manhole from the Bennington Museum side of sanitary collection system but were unable to due to road conditions. An attempt to reach the manhole from a field off Monument Avenue caused the service truck to become stuck in mud. Operators were able to reel off hose from jetter and reach manhole; thereafter to be able to jet line and clear obstruction. Rotten metal and concrete were removed from bottom of manhole which is probable cause of obstruction.
