JO 4-451 JO Redmond Road Construction of a greenfield Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) by the Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD). The building consists of approximately 60,000 square feet (sf) of high-bay warehouse recycling processing space, as well as 8700 sf to accommodate approximately thirty employees, a public education center to hold meetings and provide tours, and office space to support administrative and scale functions. During construction, CSWD would like the ability to transport excess fill material generated as part of the extraction process, required to construct the MRF, to the Organics Recycling Facility further down Redmond Rd. that is owned and operated by CSWD. The proposed system will be automated and will use input from the drinking water plant to determine the flow of Clay Brook and when withdrawal of water is needed. The design will use a nearby snowmaking valve house and involves the construction of a 70-foot long, 12 foot-wide, 2-feet deep flow equalization channel lined with 12-inch thick VAOT Type I stone fill. When the flow augmentation system is operating a six-inch diameter pipe will transport water from the snowmaking system through the channel to an existing culvert at the end of the channel that will release water to Clay Brook.
